Keep Your Boy Intact

Did you know?

  • Circumcision of baby boys is the most common surgery performed in the United States today.
  • Studies show that circumcision does not prevent AIDS or STDS.  Only safe sex and condoms can do that.
  • The foreskin is a normal and functional body part, protecting the penis and aiding in adult sexual pleasure.
  • Circumcision is painful, risky and unnecessary and unethical – babies are unable to consent.

scholarlymom24, your information is outdated and the reasons you cite supporting male infant circumcision have been found to be invalid.

Modern studies regarding urinary tract infections and circumcision status do not show the correlations of earlier tests. Currently, Infant circumcision is not considered to be a significant preventative for UTIs.

According to the American Cancer Society, male penile cancer is very rare and occurs in about 1 out of 100,000 men in the US. Male breast cancer occurs more frequently, but no one suggests cutting off the breasts of baby boys.

A recent study tested anesthesia for infants being circumcised. The test was cut short because the infants without anesthesia and with less effective anesthesia were in too much pain to ethically continue the study. In spite of this, the majority of infant circumcisions are still performed without anesthesia or with only a sugar pacifier.

I do agree that parents need to make decisions for their children. But, they do not need to decide to have cosmetic surgery for their children. We do not allow parents to tattoo children, we should not allow parents to have healthy tissue cut off from their children.

Gloria’s video is great. She makes a very good case for leaving the sex organs of baby boys alone. I wish she had been around my parents when I was born. I might still be intact instead of being circumcised.

I am all for natural living and parenting, but being Jewish and being educated on the topic, I disagree with the argument against circumcision.
For one thing, it is not that risky of it is done right and at the right time. If it is followed as in the Jewish tradition, on the eighth day after birth, it is the time when the boy had the highest level of vitamin K that they will ever have in the body, an essential component for blood clotting.

Also, it has many benefits such as protecting against urinary tract infections, various cancers in men, as well as protecting women from issues with hygiene and cancers such as ovarian cancer. It also reduces sexual problems from age and diabetes.
There is a lot more that one can find out about the benefits of circumcision.
It also is not traumatic for babies. It heals in less than 5 days usually, and it is never done too soon if the baby’s health is already at risk.
As far as the baby’s consent goes, parents need to be parents and do what’s best for their child. Parents should not run democratic homes. They are the parents and part of being parents is making decisions that are right for their kids, even if the kids don’t like it at the time.
